Coming back soon - Some updates, in the meantime

The last entry of this blog is quite old. However, I'm not dead neither I stopped my PhD project :) So, here I just provide a quick update.

Since the end of december, until beginning of march I mainly worked on producing a Reasoned Bibliography (which I also uploaded here). This kind of document is not equal to the so-called commented bibliographies. These ones are bullet lists of references each of which is provided with a brief comment attempting to put it in to context and in relation to a given topic/research. Within my doctoral school, the reasoned bibliography is framed as an attempt to locate the relevant academic debates for the research and to present them in a discursive manner. An early attempt at building up the theoretical chapter.

It took me quite a while to understand to which academic community I'd like the most to address my research to, but at the end I did it! I'm quite satisfied for to the parts about the emerging challenges within participatory design field and the one about development/use mediation within FOSS studies. The last part about game writing still need some consideration. Another challenge came from language issue. Given that Im not an english native speaker, to produce this kind of document was quite difficult, and I'm sure that it lacks clarity and proper wording/grammar. However, everybody knows...practice makes perfect :)

On another side I was also very busy in organising a seminar series about "Free software in civili society" within the University of Trento. It's not related to my research so I won't discuss it here, however it did take me lot of time to organise it.

For the past week, I was planning to seriously go back 'into the field' of my empirical research...but of course I got sick and I needed to stay a bit in bed. Murphy's law never fails. However, now that I'm fine again I'll be back soon on my research work, and I'm seriously thinking to begin with interviewing.
